FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is bitcoin solo mining?
Bitcoin solo mining is a method where individual miners attempt to solve blocks independently, without joining a mining pool. While the chances of success are lower, successful miners receive the full block reward which for Bitcoin is 3.125 BTC.
How do I get started?
Browse our products to find the right mining hardware for your needs. From small NerdMiners to more powerful NerdQaxe multi Terahash devices we have something to cater to all needs and budgets.
What are the chances of hitting a block?
These are quite small however you can add more powerful hardware to increase the odds, sites like www.sololuck.com can be used to see your odds based on the devices and total hash rate you have.
How do I setup my new device?
There is a wealth of information online for all devices we supply, the best option is likely youtube however at a high level the process is as follows:
- Power on the device.
- Connect to the devices own Wifi Network, some have a QR code on the screen to scan while others show the wifi name and password to connect to.
- Once connected via your phone/computer it will either pop up straight away with a configuration page otherwise you may need to open a web browser and type in 192.168.4.1.
- Once you have the setup page it will guide you through swapping it over to your home wifi network and entering in your bitcoin wallet address and preferred pool.
- Some starter reccomendations would be BlueWallet for a phone app based wallet and https://web.public-pool.io/ as a potential pool to use that is quite popular or alternatively https://ausolo.ckpool.org/ which has lower latency being AU based.
- Once entered in it will reboot and start mining immediately - the screen will display the current status and hashrate, you can also go to the pool's website that you are using and enter your bitcoin wallet address to verify that it is mining correctly for you.
Which device should I buy?
It really depends on your budget and goals, if you are serious about having at least a small chance I would suggest starting with a BitAxe Gamma 601 as it's fairly low cost while still providing a decent hash rate otherwise the NerdQaxe or Octaxe series are a serious step up and are better value when looked at from a cost per TH perspective.
Can I only mine Bitcoin?
No, most of these miners are combatible with any SHA-256 coin including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and others.
